Joan Coukos, a former banker in NYC & Moscow, fell in love with the European chocolate tradition in Belgium in 2000 and decided to switch careers. After studying with French, Belgian, Swiss and American chocolatiers she launched Chocolat Moderne in 2003. Her hand-crafted chocolates have been winning awards ever since.
