The recent wave of medical studies¹ touting the nutritional value of chocolate has inspired a new look at how to accentuate the positive impact through the skillful addition of innovative ingredients like natural fruit and botanical extracts and essential amino acids. Chocolate's naturally high flavinol content (flavinols are a group of compounds that function as antioxidants) is 2 to 3 times greater than either green tea or red wine. Research has shown that flavinols increase blood flow and reduce heart disease, bolster the immune system and help fight against cancer, reduce inflammation and minimize the effects of aging. The specific effects of cocoa on Alzheimers and diabetes are also currently being documented. The addition of other ingredients known for their influence on health and mood like lavender, L-theanine, lime blossom, catus, guarana berry and black currant amplify the benefits of chocolate and please the palate.
¹ Published studies include research from doctors and scientists at Harvard Medical School, Penn State, Cornell University, Boston Brigham and Women's Hospital and the University of California-Davis.
